We once wondered what an XC bike would look like if it were designed with downhillers in mind. The Tallboy is exactly that . With just 120mm of rear travel, it allows for far more than just calf-shutting and HIIT climbs.

This is a bike that definitely isn't aiming for top marks in marathons, but rather for the biggest smile on a trip to the local gentle trails, when we plan to do a little more riding than usual. The stiff, springy, and incredibly agile frame, of course, features a VPP suspension system.

We know that every suspension has its limitations, so with the Tallboy, we focused on the other side of our solution, improving pedaling performance and long hours in the saddle. Believe us, it worked like a charm!

Glovebox

A well-thought-out bike compartment is a standard that makes all the difference in all-day missions. Whether you're planning a quick getaway or a full day of pounding the trails , you'll find plenty of room for all your essentials, like tools, inner tubes, CO2 cartridges, tire pegs, a wallet, and… anything else you can fit! To keep things organized, the compartment features a roll-up organizer to keep everything in place.

120mm of VPP™ suspension travel

The legendary system that has taken many to the podium has just enough travel in this model to absorb bigger hits, be predictable over bumps throughout the range, and simply handle the bike great through the terrain!

BumpBuster

In this edition of the Tallboy, we improved the sensitivity to small bumps on the trail, the AntiSquat curve for less bouncing while pedaling, and we squeezed as much as possible out of the VPP™ to make the bike springy and prevent it from bouncing over the entire suspension travel.

Attention to detail

Santa Cruz knows how to pay attention to details that make life easier. Simple cable routing inside the frame, a durable rubber boot to protect the frame from chain slap, and a mini fender to keep the shock legs clean!

Stiffness adapted to size

Heavier riders transfer more power to the frame structure. Santa Cruz adjusts the stiffness of the frame components to suit individual rider sizes, so everyone can hit the rails with equal force.
